2017 begins!

Wow! It is already March, and St. Peter’s youth have been up to A LOT in January and February! So much, in fact, that we didn’t have time to post about it! Here is a belated update of all the wonderful things the youth have been doing in the last couple of months, from outreach, to fellowship, to pancakes.

In mid-January, the Confirmation class took its annual trip to the St. Louis Art Museum to tour religious art exhibits. This year, we looked at Christian, Muslim, and Egyptian art! Thanks to parishioner Ann Burroughs for making this experience meaningful year after year!

At January’s end, we had our third annual Youth and Family Night at the St. John’s Peace Meal! As always, this event was a huge success. We had returning families, as well as some new faces serving down in Tower Grove! It was a fun night–we made breakfast for dinner!

As February came our way, the St. Peter’s Youth Council hosted its second lock-in! Middle and high school youth gathered for a night of fun, games, food, prayer, and Star Wars! It was hard to capture pictures since everyone was running around!

Throughout all of January and early February, the St. Peter’s Youth Council also hosted a winter clothing drive for Kingdom House, a settlement house just south of downtown that provides a wide array of community services. Thanks to the generosity of St. Peter’s parishioners, SPYC was able to deliver lots of warm clothes to Kingdom House last week. They coordinated the drive in its entirety, from deciding on dates and the organization to deciding on drivers and delivery! What a group of young leaders we have in our church.

Finally, last night we had a HUGELY successful Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper! Many youth from the Confirmation class, along with other youth volunteers, served well over 100 people in a bustling Undercroft. We raised $572 for outreach!

We’ll be taking a little break in March for Spring Break, but be on the lookout for amazing youth events to come in April and May!

Peace,
Jillian
